THE CHALLENGE:
The Gobi Challenge is one of the most extreme races on the planet.
Starting in Dalandzadgad, Mongolia on the 29th of June 2007, Ken will be covering a course of over 230km, enduring blistering daytime heat and freezing night winds as he travels over enormous sand dunes, rocky desert plains and even into an ice gorge hidden deep within a mountain range. In doing so he will be embarking on an adventure which will push him to his mental, physical and emotional limits. It won't be an easy ride, however it will be a tremendous challenge and an unforgettable adventure.
THE INSPIRATION:
Following the death last year of wildlife adventurer Steve Irwin, Ken was moved by the effect it had on young children especially the "apply of his eye", six year old daughter Erin. So together they set out to find a challenge where they could raise funds and awareness for WILDLIFE WARRIORS. "Erin is a real animal lover and was a huge fan of Steve 'the Crocodile Hunter' so the Gobi Challenge was a real chance for Erin & I to get involved and make a contribution". Erin is her dad's biggest supporter and the bond between them is his greatest source of his motivation.
